Having my girls so far apart (12 yrs), I have been a mother with at least one child in school for over fourteen years now.
Finally it happened! A report card came home with near perfect markings and a big fat check mark in the box that reads “no conference needed at this time”.
Yes! This must be how Charlie felt when he opened up that Wonka Bar and saw that golden ticket.

I am so excited, I have a date with my daughter tonight. We have plans to hang out and go to a movie. And now that she is working, the popcorn is on her. Bonus!
It’s strange some times having a daughter almost twenty years old. I spent all those years wanting and pushing her to grow up and then one day I woke up and she is living with her boyfriend and has a baby on the way and I miss her like crazy.
Allison’s school had a Family Fun Night last night.
The theme was the 50’s with Root beer floats, arts & crafts and Elvis BINGO. They even had a DJ playing all kinds of dance music for the kids and a hula hoop contest. Gerry and I had a blast watching Allison and her friends dancing under the lights all night.
I posted a few photos on Flickr but there is just something about this one that I love,
I know she doesn’t look so thrilled but trust me she had a great time.
After taking Bethany to the doctor yesterday for her monthly check up I was thinking about what the baby will call me.
I guess Grandma is the most appealing, well besides Aunt Jennifer but that’s just wrong.
I don’t think I look like a Nana or Nanny and I can tell you for certain that I want nothing to do with Granny!
Last week over breakfast my seven year old daughter told me that a girl in her latchkey that is in third grade says she wears a bra. She was all bug eyed and smiling when she told me. Which means this is very exciting news to her. I don’t remember my response but it must don’t have been good enough.
Because, last night while setting the table for dinner she said to me, I know you’re going to say no BUT, long pause.... do you think when I am nine I will be able to wear a bra? First I looked at her and said, I guess you can ask me when you are nine and I’ll let you know. Knowing she is only seven this gives me two more years to come up with an answer and who knows maybe by then she will need one? Gawd, I hope not but ya never know. She then looked away and said real serious, I just don’t get it, I don’t get the whole bra thing, what do they do any way? My closing statement on this was to tell her, don’t be in a hurry because once you start wearing one you’ll be wearing one for the rest of your life. Then I told her to go wash her hands for dinner.
Why do they have to grow up so fast?
Okay, who put the caffeine and crack in my daughters bowl of Apple Jacks this morning?
She has been talking a mile a minute and bouncing off the walls for hours.
The worst part is that she is grounded, so I can’t even tell her to chill out and watch a movie or go out and play.
Is it bed time yet?
Yesterday my grandmother had a heart attack, while she was walking the halls of her apartment building undressed. A lady that works in the building found her about 6:30am and call 911. Thankfully it was a minor heart attack but over the past few months her health has been going down hill real fast. When she leaves the hospital she’ll be moving in to a nursing home where she can get the care and looking after she needs for now on.
It’s such a sad part of life. I know every one says this but I really do not understand why getting old has to be so cruel and unfair. When you work all your life, raise you family and have already lost your husband, it should be a time to sit back, relax and laugh.
Well, if I had my way it would be.
I took my daughter to her first real OB appointment last week and we came home with pictures already. She is 3 monthes along and the baby was moving around like crazy. It looked like a shrimp. Our doctor said everything seems good and healthy so far.
I have to admit, seeing the little shrimp moving around and seeing and hearing the heart beat was a bit overwhelming for me.
I am just still getting over all the shock. But I am beginning to come around. I have to. My daughter and I are very close and she is soooo not ready for any of this.
I still can’t believe I am going to be a grandmother at 37!
Still in my sugar induced coma I just wanted to say that I hope every one had as nice of a holiday as we did.
You can see a ton of my photos on Flickr.
We spent the afternoon baking and decorating a couple dozen Christmas cookies.
Well the holidays are really here.
We had our first holiday get together of the season yesterday afternoon here at our house.
I think it went well. I know I had a nice time.
Getting together with family is what I love most about the season.
I spent the day yesterday baking with my Aunt, Sister and Step Mom.
Making many Kieflie cookies every year has been a tradition in my Step Mother’s family for generations.
We made traditional nut and a few fruit. All came out wonderful.
The best of all for me was just being a part of things and spending the time with people I love.
I think it might have put me in a holiday mood. Some thing I have been having a little trouple with this year.
