Other than a family movie night with Allison tonight and an afternoon baby shower tomorrow my weekend plans are pretty much up in the air. I really need to put in some time working around our house, the blinds need to be cleaned, the steps vacuumed and it’s past time to pack away all the winter clothes. The weatherman still says high 80’s with rain and storms both Saturday and Sunday so it sound like a good weekend to stay in and get these things done. Other than that, maybe my beautiful sister will want to recuse me from house work and invite me over for a “geeky” night on Saturday? If so, you’ll find me sitting behind my laptop across from her and quit possibly with a drink in my hand. We’ll see…

I just called my husband and asked if he was planning on being home by 7:00pm. His reply was “why? what did I do?” I said, nothing! I am making BBQ ribs and some other manly type food for dinner and thought we’d watch the Wings game together. His next reply was “why are you being so nice?”. My first response was to yell at him “I am always nice”.
Ha ha ha...whats up with that? I am always nice to my husband! Damn it! He is one lucky man.
Ok, I will admit, I could be nicer some times. I am working on it.
We were home from up north around 10:30pm last night. By the time we unpacked and settled in it was after 11:30pm and were in bed about an hour later. I was doing really good all morning but now I am sitting here at my desk ready to fall sleep. As tired as I am it was all so worth it. We had a great time. We spent a lot of the weekend with my parents and friends, which for us is always a good time. We enjoyed good company, good food, sitting my the camp fire and lots and lots of laughing. It was just what we needed!
My husband just sent me a text that read “confirmed, I have Friday off”. Yes! We both have to work tomorrow and then around 3:30am Friday morning we are hitting the road heading up north to our trailer until some time Monday afternoon. Allison decided since it wont be hot enough for any beach fun she is staying behind with grandparents so it’ll just be the two of us. I love our time up there with the girls but part of me is really looking forward to some alone time with my husband. It’s just so hard to get these days.
I have no bra on and am in my PJ’s already because I just showered. I have a full glass of wine in my hand and I am yelling at my daughter at 8:30 at night. I have rose to a new level in bad parenting. I guess I can kiss that Mother of the Year award goodbye for yet another year.
The sun was out some of the time but it rained and the wind blew pretty cold during our parade today. But we didn’t let it stop us from having a good time. Allison’s Brownie troop marched and sang and cheered on through our city.
Allison & Papa
He was one proud Papa to be walking in the parade with his granddaughter and I am sure his granddaughter felt the same way. As I left them at the line up, I heard her say “this is my Papa” at least three times to her little Brownie friends.
My daughters Brownie troop is walking in a Memorial Day parade this afternoon. The troop leader asked the girls to invite a member of their family that has severed in the military to walk along side each girl so Allison invited her Papa who was in the Army. We also have a few armed forces men and a white hummer with our troop today. The girls are so excited! So far the weatherman still says rain and a high of 55 - 59 degrees. I am praying the rain will some how miss us. No I am begging God or Mother Nature, who ever can hear me for no rain this afternoon. After all the hard work that went in to this parade, it wont be much fun to walk in the cold and rain.
Because the weather was so crappy on Sunday we had our pretend it’s Mother’s Day BBQ at our house last night. It was great having my mom and step dad over. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Getting all of us together is some thing we don’t do enough of. I hope to change that over the summer.
Guess who’s mom was at Kinko’s until after 10:30 last night? Guess who’s mom will never ever help her daughter again with a seven page project the night before it’s due? Especially when such daughter had a week or more to work on the project and forgot ! Guess who’s mom will need lots of caffeine today to get her through her work day? But guess who’s mom BETTER come home to a clean house and she damn well better come home to some real sucking up and thank you kisses from her daughter!
Gerry and I are still all stuffy and feeling crabby. I was feeling better Friday evening and most of the day Saturday and then I got all stuffy again and it moved in to my ears so I feel like I am under water all of the time. It’s really pissing me off.
I did still have a nice weekend and a nice Mother’s Day. I spent the day Saturday with Rebecca who is now crawling and getting in to everything. We had a nice day and sat out side for most of it. After she went home and Allison went to a friends house for the night I was able to talk my husband into a nice quiet dinner out, just the two of us. It was so nice! I had steak and crab cakes, it was wonderful!
Of course my Mother’s Day was also very nice. It was the opposite of quiet for the most part there was even living room pillow fights in the afternoon which I did not win. I never win, both my husband and daughter are too vicious. In the evening Gerry and Allison cooked me a delicious spaghetti dinner and then severed brownie ice cream for dessert. Allison showered me with handmade gifts from school that say how wonderful I am and a digital key chain that holds 60 pictures. It was really nice. I am a lucky woman.
"Aunt Jenny” that is what my pretty little niece calls me. She has the sweetest little voice when she says it too. I ended up taking Rebecca and Allison over to my sister’s house this evening and sitting with the kids for a while until she came home from work. The two babies were so cute and really good together. In fact for the couple of hours I was there, all four kids were really good and it was nice to be with them. I love it that we are all so close and spend so much time together. I have to say we are blessed with some pretty awesome kids.
Allison’s class just finished reading The Spider Chronicles with their teacher and this evening they all made plans to meet at the dollar show to see it on the big screen. Allison was so worried she wouldn’t be able to make it because it started at 5:15 and most days I am home from work just about that time but lucky for her her dad was home in time to take her. I hope they are having a good time. It’s been a while since she has been out some where with just her dad. It makes me smile at the thought of them standing in line for popcorn and Allison introducing him to all of her little girl friends.
