Damn Mary, you are one cool chick ! If I was brave enough, this picture could make for one really sexy blog skin.
I swiped it from Catlin.

Allison and my nephew took over the living room last night for a double feature family fun night. Two family movies, two kids, two sleeping bags, two pizzas, a couple dozen Webkinz and whole lot of fun. The kids seemed to really have a good time.
First we watched Enchanted. I LOVED it ! We all agreed it was a very good movie. Both the kids told me how much they liked it, more then once. I guess it is one I’ll be adding to our collection. Then we put in Water Horse. Being as old as I am, I saw maybe ten minutes of this movie and was out like a light. I woke a few times and both kids had their eyes glued to the movie. That tells me it must have been pretty good. I just asked over breakfast and both movies got two really big thumbs up from these two. I guess our double feature was a success.
I can always count on my blogging friends to get me through !
It’s after 2:00pm ! My good friend Uncle Vito is on!
I surprised my husband over the weekend with a pizza and beer night, complete with a couple of manly movie rentals. I picked up 30 Days of Night and Chaos. Chaos was nothing I thought it was. Even though we both enjoyed it, I expected high action and more things being blown up. Still, not really a bad movie. It had a few good twists and turns in the story and Jason Statham and Ryan Phillippe were both worth the time. Now, 30 Days of Night is another story. It was pretty good. Better then I expected. Lots of action and suspense, blood and gore. Some scenes were gross enough for me to hide my face but I still thought the movie was a lot of fun.
We have been a little movie crazy at our house lately. Here are my quick thoughts of what we have rented so far.
Things We Lost in The Fire,
LOVED it! Was there really any doubt? I am not a big Holly Berry fan but I thought she did a good job in this film. Of course Benicio is fantastic as always.
Rendition,
Not too bad. Gerry and I liked it. I was glad not to have seen it in the theater but it was worth renting.
In the Valley of Elah,
Another good film worth renting but I was glad not to have spent the money in the theater. Very well acted and done. Just a little long in spots.
No Country for Old Men,
Oh my gosh ! Such a good movie! Very disturbing yet so well made. Worth every award it has won. This one I wish I would have seen in the theater. I know a lot of people didn’t care for the ending but I thought it was brilliant. I am thinking of picking up the book to read next.
I am Legend,
How did I not know what this was about? I was so misinformed! I jumped a few times and thought it was good but I think Gerry liked it more then I did.
I have my DVR set to record New Amsterdam, starting tonight at 9:00pm on FOX.
With all of our shows still in the after math of the writers strike I am looking forward to having some thing new to watch.
You can read about New Amsterdam and watch the preview over on my TV blog..
We rented American Gangster last night. Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe both were fantastic as always, both are so talented. In fact I found everything about the movie to be very well made but it felt way too long and just a lot of the same old gangster stuff we have already seen so many times. Only in Harlem. This coming from me, a huge gangster film fan. I am surprised, I expected to love this movie but I didn’t. Maybe it was mood but I was bored out of my mind.

Not knowing much about it, Gerry and I rented The Hunting Party last night.
All I knew about it really was that it started Richard Gere and my man Terrence Howard. Sounds good!
What a trip! We both really liked it a lot. I love it when I stumble onto a great sleeper film that didn’t get enough attention when it was released. It’s a nice surprise and I feel like I have to tell everyone about it.
I thought the story was a lot of fun, well as much fun as a movie about war and hunting for a powerful war lord an be.
It’s the kind of movie you will either love or hate. Not sure how much of it is true but sitting put through the credits is worth it.
If anyone is interested in what I thought of the Nip Tuck season finale,
it’s over here.
“Does knowing you’ve been poisoned make it better or worse? Or is that sort of beside the point once you’ve been shot, too?”
As sad as I am to see this season of Nip Tuck come to an end, I can not wait to watch this tonight!
Gerry and I have been up late watching movies the last couple of nights. Not even starting them until 10:00pm. It’s been kinda fun being up so late on the couch together sharing a blanket and some snacks while every one else in the house is asleep. Even the hound.
We watched We Own The Night, which we both thought was pretty good. I good story movie with a great cast. Phoenix and Wahlberg were both equally good. I have never been a fan of Eva Mendes in fact she kind of gets on my nerves when I see her in movies but this role seemed to suit her.
Last night we watched Gone Baby Gone. One damn good movie! Another good story movie with an outstanding cast. I felt the entire movie was very well made. I kind of knew what it was about, but not really. Sad and disturbing, it’s not a movie for everybody. There is a scene about three quarters of the way in to the movie that I knew as soon as it passed I was going to have a hard time shaking it. Even thou it’s not real graphic like other movies I have seen, it messed me up! This movie effected me. I can’t recommend it enough if you haven’t seen it.
I also hope it’s not the last we see from Ben Affleck as a director. I thought he did a great job!
I can not wait to see this movie ! It looks so good.
I have been listening to the soundtrack in my car on the way to work in the mornings. Puts me in such a good mood.
The play is actually here in Detroit this week but I don’t have the money or any one to go with.
