Yesterday we partied hearty at our house in celebration of my sister, her two sons and my husband who all have birthdays really close together. It was a good time. Lots of good food, family and lots of laughs.

I have a hot date tonight with my sister. A nice evening out for her birthday. Dinner and tickets to see James Blunt, who’s music she loves. So much that she played it in the labor room when my niece was born. It’s sure to be a good time.

I know my sister is a good date because years ago, before I started dating my husband I dated a guy on and off for about two years. I was so in love with him that I couldn’t see how bad he was for me. Through all the ups and downs, my sister was right there for me. Always being my best friend and listening. There was an evening planned near the end of our relationship dinner and tickets to see Natalie Merchant, whom I adore. It was going to be a beautiful, romantic night out. Well, a couple days before our big night, of course we were back on the outs and decided to call it quits. My heart was just broken to pieces. My sister being the amazing sister she is, fixed it by being my date that night. She took me out in style, even wore a tie to go with my little black dress. We were quite the couple. We had to laugh because when got there, our seats were between two lesbian couples, so we really fit right in… ha ha. I will never forget that she did that for me.
Even though we spend a lot of time together, I think that was the last time we went to a concert and I am so happy to be taking her tonight to see a singer that touches her heart like Natalie’s music touched mine.
But first I plan to talk her ear off over a nice sea food dinner and a couple of margaritas! That part of the hot date is a tradition for us.

Here we are back in the day, mid-90’s. Really, have you even seen a better pair?

Not knowing much about it, Gerry and I rented The Hunting Party last night.
All I knew about it really was that it started Richard Gere and my man Terrence Howard. Sounds good!
What a trip! We both really liked it a lot. I love it when I stumble onto a great sleeper film that didn’t get enough attention when it was released. It’s a nice surprise and I feel like I have to tell everyone about it.

I thought the story was a lot of fun, well as much fun as a movie about war and hunting for a powerful war lord an be.
It’s the kind of movie you will either love or hate. Not sure how much of it is true but sitting put through the credits is worth it.
