Our neighborhood had a yard party last night. Six or seven houses got together in one yard around 6:00pm. We all shared food and drinks and sat around our fire pit, some of us until the wee hours of the morning. Lots of laughing and sharing stories. Ages from 18 to 80 ! Amazing how much you can learn about the people you see almost every day when you slow things down and spend an evening together. It was a lot of fun. We all talked about doing it again before the summer slips away. I really hope we do. We are blessed with some really great neighbors.
Allison’s riding lesson went great yesterday. I was a kind of worried because it’s been a while since she has been on a horse. I almost signed her up for a private lesson as a refresher, but there was no need. She rode like a pro and she fit right in with the other girls. Like she never missed a session. I was so proud and so happy to see her smiling face as she rode her favorite horse, Hostess.
It’s been a nice weekend so far. I was up until after 3:00am watching the second season of Grey’s Anatomy last night. I am never awake that late, it was nice. Just me and the hound in the dark and very quiet living room. I have only four more episodes to go and I am on to season three.
There will be no quiet living room time for me tonight! Tonight the living room belongs to Allison and one of her girl friends. They are all set up and counting down to the 3D Hannah Montana concert on the Disney channel. They are both just as excited as when we saw it in the theater. They are so cute. Some times it really is fun having girls.
Last night Gerry and I enjoyed an evening at my daughters house. Her first time having company over. My parents and my aunt also were there to see Bethany and Steven’s new house and give Rebecca her birthday gifts. It was really nice. Strange but really nice. Strange to think my daughter is old enough to have her own house and family! She was pretty nervous about having people over for the first time but she did a great job. I left work a little early to help her out and to take care of Rebecca so she could get in a shower. We had a nice dinner and us ladies watched as the three men put together all the new toys. Yes, it took all three of them. Have you seen the toys for a one year old? Any way I think everyone there had a nice time and we left proud of both Bethany and Steven. It was a good.
We are like zombies around here today. Well, us girls are, my husband was up and out the door bright and early to work on finishing up a side job that is taking much longer then expected. I still can’t believe how much work yesterday was for us and am really feeling it in my back. I must be getting old. Be sides all of that, Rebecca is here for the weekend and I am pretty sure she has decided that sleep is not for one year olds. She has always been such a great sleeper that I had forgotten how hard it is to have a little one in the house that doesn’t sleep. We were up a lot during the night and then up by 6:30am for the day and so far with only one short nap. At one point, around 7:00am this morning I had the baby asleep on my shoulder and the hound snoring on my lap while I was dosing off on the couch. We must have been a sight.
Happy first Birthday Rebecca !
We are so blessed to have such a smart, sweet and beautiful granddaughter.
Ok, who knows about older Mac’s and wireless internet connections ?? I need a little tech help.
I bought this blue clamshell G3 iBook for Allison to use,
Cute huh? And I got a great deal, only $50.00 on Ebay! Perfect for a kid to use for Webkinz and other kid stuff. I bought an Airport card and my husband installed it. In fact everything works great as long as we remove our wireless internet password. It’s really strange, as soon as he adds the password back it tells me I have the password wrong when I know it’s right and it wont connect online. Which is a problem because my husband does not want us using it unprotected.
Any ideas ???
I copied the computer specs in case that makes any kind of difference…
In less then an hour I’ll be out of this office for four days. I love a nice long weekend. It’s going to be a fun busy one too. I am excited to be having my nephew over for a few days and have all kinds of fun stuff planned from fireworks, picnics and swimming to movie watching.
But first I have tomorrow all to my self. I have a couple of small errands I need to run in the morning but nothing else planned. I think while I am out I am going to pick myself up some lunch and curl up with a chick flick in the middle of the day. Once in a while I can just be crazy wild like that.
