My fourth grade daughter is joining the BAND.
Thanks to her playing Rock Band with my nephew all summer, she is auditioning first for the DRUMS !
The clarinet is her second choice. Either one, I think I will be keeping some extra bottles of red wine in the house to get me through.
Allison looked so sweet this morning. She was so excited to be going back to school. Of course she had the advantage of knowing and liking her teacher for this year and knowing that her best friend Emily is also in her class. She was up early to play around with her new hair. She wore the cutest pink and white out fit and left for the bus all smiles. I snapped a picture of her and Roxy but didn’t have time to upload it yet. These days always feel so emotional to me. I guess I am a sap! She’s just growing up so fast. Fourth grade already.
We had a great three day weekend up north. It felt so nice to get away, breath fresh air and relax with friends and family. We spent a lot of time sitting by the fire talking and laughing. One of the best moments was when my daughter pulled off the woopie cushion prank on her grandma. Her timing was perfect and had us all rolling. I was able to get a lot of reading done and am just about finished with New Moon. I have to say, I am enjoying it even more then Twilight and I LOVED Twilight, the first book in Stephanie Meyer’s Vampire series. My only complaint about my weekend is that it went by way too fast. I can’t believe I am back behind my desk and buried in catch up work already.
With my husband working 12 hour days this week. I thought I would surprise him with pizza and a movie tonight. I stopped on my way home from work and picked up a “manly” movie and plan to order his favorite pizza just as he is due to pull in to the drive way. That way he will have plenty of time to take a nice long shower and get comfortable before it gets here.
Yep, once every now and then ya gotta say thank you and do some thing nice for the man.
Monday sure gets here fast when you have fun filled weekend. At least I have a short work week to look forward to. We do an annual shut down Thursday thru Monday every year for Labor Day. This year Gerry and I are taking Allison up north with us for a couple of days. It’s always a good time up there.
We have a fun weekend planned this week with Allison and my nephew. We are surprising them with a trip to an Air Zoo and an indoor water park. Should be a good time. The Air Zoo is full of all kinds of fun. Flight simulators, 4D movies, hot air balloons and real war planes for them to explore. I am really looking forward to it.
Our neighborhood had a yard party last night. Six or seven houses got together in one yard around 6:00pm. We all shared food and drinks and sat around our fire pit, some of us until the wee hours of the morning. Lots of laughing and sharing stories. Ages from 18 to 80 ! Amazing how much you can learn about the people you see almost every day when you slow things down and spend an evening together. It was a lot of fun. We all talked about doing it again before the summer slips away. I really hope we do. We are blessed with some really great neighbors.
Allison’s riding lesson went great yesterday. I was a kind of worried because it’s been a while since she has been on a horse. I almost signed her up for a private lesson as a refresher, but there was no need. She rode like a pro and she fit right in with the other girls. Like she never missed a session. I was so proud and so happy to see her smiling face as she rode her favorite horse, Hostess.
