Bitching

In light of my last post and freaking out I decided to stop in a local pizza place that had been advertising for part time help on their flyer’s to see if they would hire me for a couple evenings a week. The lady pretty much laughed at me. Said she mainly hires mouthy teenage boys that I would have to deal with and pointed out it gets easily over a hundred degrees in there in the summer time. I told her I could handle the heat and the boys with out a problem but when I said I have mostly just office experience, I could see the look on her face. It was like yeah, right! She said she would keep me in mind but I doubt I’ll hear from her. I am pretty bummed because it’s literally a couple blocks from my house.

How about cashiering at a grocery store?  At least that’s air conditioned!

Well, that was shitty. I’m sorry.

Sorry to hear you have to take on the extra work. The air conditioned grocery store checkout person does sound like a good idea though.

That stinks that she acted like that… Its getting scary out there I might have to go back to work just so we can make ends meet… Gas keeps going up, prices on food are going up but the packaging is shrinking big time and no one wants to pay people more…

I think it’s a very brave and good thing that you’re out there and trying to get a job on top of your normal day-job. You are sooo not lazy!

I think lying about your experience is in place here. Just say you worked in the kitchen of a restaurant of behind the counter when you were in college/high school. That’s long enough ago to have forgotten things so when you actually work there it’s not weird that you have to learn some things again. The rest is just common sense/knowledge, you’ll know what to do when you get working. Sometimes honesty isn’t the best option but that does suck, indeed.
