Gerry and I watched this movie last night. I have to say it was not on my list to rent. In fact, I am still a little surprised that I agreed to even watch it. I am so not a fan of any movie that has drama or stress in the water. Drowning is one of my biggest fears. I would much rather jump from a plane then jump off a boat into the deep ocean.
Anyway, about the movie, I wont give away any spoilers but there are two scenes, one in an air shaft and one scene with a cage that totally freaked me out. I had to cover my face with my blanket. Very intense.
All in all I wouldn’t say this was a 10 star movie, but on DVD I thought it was pretty entertaining. Maybe a 6 or 7.
If you do rent this on DVD make sure you watch the behind the scenes selection, it’s worth your time.

I guess I watched the original far too many times as a Saturday afternoon movie, and I couldn’t help but keep comparing it to the original.

So, although the special effects are of course no where near as good in the original, I still prefer it to the remake.

I’ve heard others say it was good too! Will have to rent it sometime.

The special features are awesome, especially the “making-of” feature.  We rented the DVD, and unfortunately the disk was scratched, so it wouldn’t play beyond when they showed how they shot the ballroom implosion (which seemed really cool from the parts that i DID see)....but I loved the soundtrack from the movie.
