Daily BS

It’s really quiet and slow again today. Most Friday’s have been like this for the past six months. It’s really very sad. I work for a third generation small auto supply company. They have been in business over 65 years. This once was a booming place. Even when I started a few years ago, we had more then four times the orders coming in daily then we do now. These days the big auto makers would rather place their orders with an over seas company at less then a third the price we can make the part for even over ordering their parts by hundreds and then just weeding out the “not so good” parts. Instead of ordering here, where we make it right the first time and stand behind it for years of use. Note, we have held the same prices for the “big three” auto makers for years.
I have decided to ride this job out the best I can. Out of the dozen employees that are here my job of answering the phone and quoting and processing jobs would be one of the very last to go. I am also very fortunate to be working with some pretty great people. I feel for the owner, as he watches all the auto disappear from our state. He is in his late 70’s. In his time, Detroit was the Motor City. I bet he never thought he would see the day we lose all of auto jobs.
Some people say we are headed for or even already going through a recession. I don’t know. I can tell you as a surf the hundreds of homes in foreclosure in my area that this is a sad time here in Michigan. Maybe the whole country? Just wondering, how is your state doing?

I just bought my home 1yr ago this month, and before I bought it, it had been foreclosed on twice before. Where I live the economy is pretty good, lots of good jobs (factory), but I see at least 5 foreclosure notices in the paper a week. It’s sad. Still life was cheaper 7ys ago. I read things all the time about Michigan, and it really does suck. I wish things would get better!!!

Well, you know where I stand - I live a mile from you. LOL. It’s very sad though. I can’t even believe this is all happening to us here.

Unemployment here is higher. The economy sucks. Everything cost more and with gas prices rising I’m worried with my 80 mile per day commute. Thank you G W Bush and the rest of your Republican buddies.

I live in the north woods of our state. We are a tourism city and the [stupid-ass] snowfall helped us out. More snow ... more snow-loving tourists. The economy has been pretty good here compared to past years. “They” are also saying that the lake levels will be higher this summer due to snowmelt so that tourism will be at a 5-year high due to boaters and fishermen.

They just raised the Maryland sales tax to 6%,which sucks...things here have started to slow down, but having DC and Baltimore so close keeps everything chugging along.

Well Oregon’s economy is “okay.” I say that loosely. We are pretty average on unemployment. The housing situation has hit here, though. Not as bad as some areas. I do expect it to get worse. What’s bad here is gas prices and the increase in food expenses. Milk is almost $4 a gallon here. Just since January...my rent went up, gas prices, electricity keeps increasing, health insurance is insane, food prices are up, etc. It’s beginning to hurt us financially...We used to be middle class. We have gone to hovering at lower-middle class, in the last two years. HMPH!

According to the countries leading authorities we are indeed heading into a recession.  Things are awful in lower Virginia and Carolina.  The company I left full time after 13 years when I decided to stay home as a full time wife is closing next week.  All my friends from there are without jobs.  Some can’t afford the insurance payments for Cobra.  $1300 for a couple.  Bush ruined us.  He spent all our money in Iraq and McCain wants to KEEP spending it.  Lord I hope he loses the election.  Bush took a healthy country and he literally slit our throats.  Our money is in Iraq building their schools while our children go without.
