This is the second time in less then six weeks my mom is with out a phone because people are stealing the phone wire and selling it for the copper. The phone company said there is nothing they can do to stop it from happening again and again, all they can do is to keep replacing it. This time they have to wait over a week. Thank goodness she has a cell phone.

Good question. I don’t think so since it’s really not their fault people steal.
WTF?? I cannot believe people would actually do this. Hell, I’d never even knew you could do that. Thanks God she does have a cell. Where does she live? Michegan?
OMG! I can’t believe this. You think they would set up some kind of surveillance and try to catch them.
Sell it for the copper???
Those thieves must be really strapped for cash.
copper heists are getting to be a pretty common crime here in nova scotia ... some thieves actually used the recent tropical storm and the resulting wide-spread power outages as a cover to steal 15km of copper cable from street lights in an industrial area outside of the city.
People should only buy copper with ids and the correct paperwork. They know it is all stolen. The buyer should be responsible. I dated a guy that worked for a huge Electrical company and they would take the wire left from jobs, strip it and sell it. But the money was so good more and more of it became sections of the not left over cable right off the truck. I told him he was crazy. It was stealing and he would be fired and have a bad name for it so one group stopped and the other group got popped. Apparently that stuff is like gold!
Are they at least giving her a partial credit for the time she’s without the service?
