I am thinking of upgrading to Windows Vista.
Anyone have any opinions of it yet?

Hmmm, good point Vito.
Unless you have a specific reason (and there are none as far as software I can think of), or are buying a brand new machine, there is no reason to move to Vista at this point.
There is a lack of good drivers for anything but the newest equipment. It has very large memory and Video requirements. And unless you can find one of the new Hard Drives with Flash Memory installed that are designed for Vista, it is going to not be all that wonderfully fast.
Also, do not consider (under any cicumstances) Vista Basic. It is a waste of time. You do not get the Aero interface (that is the new cool look), and you do not get the security enhancements, and you do not get any of the multimedia tools. It is a stripped down version that really has no purpose other than Microsoft having the ability to say they offer a $99 upgrade edition to keep from people complaining about how expensive Vista is.
If you don’t already have it, get Google Desktop (or even Yahoo! Widgets, I just like the Google version better) and you will have the new “Widgets” feature that Vista touts.
Wait for Service Pack 1 before moving to Vista… again, unless you are buying a brand new machine.
(Nah, I didn’t have an opinion
)
Wait wait...new software releases are one of the few things you do not want brand new. Vito is right a year is a good time to wait. I would bet my pennies that they come out with an upgrade or a patch for bugs they find in the first 6 months.
Personally, I think it’s a good idea to wait until a year after it’s been introduced so they can work the bugs out of it.
